Trinity Lutheran Church is an “association of churches” within the meaning of 508(c)(1)(A) of the Internal Revenue Code and has been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Your contributions are fully tax-deductible.

Some members and friends of Trinity Lutheran Church are choosing to provide for the long-term support through provisions in their wills.  Such gifts, called “bequests,” permit the donor to support our ministries.

The CARES Act contains two federal income tax provisions to help with charitable giving. Unfortunately, both are only effective for the 2020 tax year. The provisions are:

  • A new $300 maximum deduction for charitable giving in addition to the standard deduction, for taxpayers who do not itemize deductions.

  • Expansion of the cap on total deductions (including charitable giving) from 60% of taxable income to 100% of taxable income.
